Meet our Team

The UTS teaching team has a shared vision to be the most respected provider of education in the region embracing a mindset of collegiality in which they acknowledge and use each other’s strengths to allow goals to be accomplished. In addition to that our students’ academic success and social growth is of paramount importance. We are also very fortunate that a highly motivated and enthusiastic administrative and facilities team ably assists our teachers.

Leadership Team

Christopher Bromham joins us from a high performing international school in South Korea where he held the position Head of Senior School and Senior Vice Principal. Prior to moving to South Korea, he worked at the Dubai English Speaking College and a leading British School in Bahrain. Christopher holds a Masters degree in Effective Leadership in Education. He has extensive experience in teaching and leadership at all levels including the development, implementation and monitoring of strategic and operational plans. For the last seven years all of his leadership positions have included responsibility for the whole school from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Christopher’s subject specialism is Maths and he is a devoted advocate of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme
RORY GALVINHead of Secondary
Rory Galvin spent 14 years working in the international education sector and joined Uptown School from Luanda International School in Angola, where he served as Secondary Vice Principal. During his time there, he helped to lead the expansion and authorisation of the Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. Prior to that, Rory held leadership and teaching positions in Italy, UAE and Yemen. Rory holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and a BA in English and Political and Sociological Studies, with a minor in Philosophy and Geography, from the National University of Ireland, Galway.
Sarah holds a Bachelor Degree in Education from the American University of Beirut (AUB), Lebanon and has more than 10 years of experience in teaching. Prior to becoming the PYP Coordinator, she headed the Uptown School Mathematics Department and was the Grade 4 homeroom teacher. Before joining Uptown School, Sara taught in different schools in Dubai and Lebanon. She is responsible for the facilitation of teacher collaboration, individual coaching, professional development, planning, and assessment of the PYP program to enhance students’ learning experiences at Uptown School.
ERIN MULLERHead of Early Years
Erin is an accomplished educator having held leadership positions in the field of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education in International Baccalaureate Schools. She joined Uptown School in 2007 as an Early Childhood classroom teacher in the Kindergarten and also taught Grade 2 before taking the position of Primary Years IB Coordinator in 2012. In 2014, Erin was appointed Head of Early Years at Uptown School. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Masters of Education from Murdoch University.
DENISE MICHELDeputy Head of Primary
Originally from South Africa, Denise has over 30 years experience in Primary School education. She is an active member of the International Baccalaureate Educators Network as a workshop leader, consultant and site visitor team leader. Her previous experience includes being Deputy Principal of an IB World School in Cape Town.
Originally from Australia, since 2000 Helen has worked in international schools in China, UAE, Qatar and most recently Singapore where she was Deputy Head of Secondary. Holding a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Bath, UK and a Bachelor of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts degree (Education and English Literature) from the University of Newcastle, Australia, Helen has over eight years administrative experience.
Jaime ROTHHead of Primary
Jaime has held school leadership positions for the past seventeen years in international schools in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Prior to joining Uptown School, he held the position of Elementary Principal at the American International School in Abu Dhabi. Earlier international postings include teaching and leadership positions at schools in Cyprus and Switzerland followed by his appointment as Head of Primary School at the Chinese International School in Hong Kong and the position of Head of Lower School at the International School of Luxembourg.
EMMA DAWSONDeputy Head of Secondary
Emma Dawson is the Deputy Head of Secondary at Uptown School. She originally hails from Reading in the UK. She is a graduate of the University of Chichester, holding a BA (QTS) Honours in Physical Education. Her research papers regarding girls’ achievements in sport have been published in the European Journal of Sports Medicine. Emma has been teaching in the Middle East region since 2001, initially at the Amman Baccalaureate School in Jordan, before joining Taaleem’s Al-Mizhar American Academy in 2005 and subsequently joining Uptown School. She has a strong commitment to the IB philosophy and ethos and is a moderator for MYP Physical and Health Education.
Sheugnet has been an educator for 26 years. She started teaching in South Africa and has taught on different three continents over the past 16 years. Originally an English Teacher and school counselor, she began her involvement with the International Baccalaureate in 2000. Having been the Head of an international School in Abu Dhabi and in Zhang Chang, China, Sheugnet joined Uptown School after a 7-year tenure at another international school in Dubai. She is a senior examiner and moderator for IB Psychology, a consultant, an IBEN?? team member for the IB and a dedicated IB coordinator.
